As a valued member of our culinary team, you will assist with plating and serving meals, and will be responsible for cleaning serving areas and equipment, while following established policies, procedures, and standards. This position is for our Limestone Ridge, located in Kingston, Ontario.

Available opportunities include Part-Time/Days/Evenings/Weekends.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits for meal serving, and maintaining food at proper serving temperatures.
  2. Clean and prepare uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruits. Follow instructions in preparing simple foods like breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes. Prepare meals following production sheets, spreadsheets, standardized recipes, week-at-a-glance schedules, and policies and procedures.
  3. Record endpoint and service temperatures, as well as fridge and freezer temperatures.
  4. Handle food samples appropriately.
  5. Familiarize with industrial equipment and know the procedures for use.
  6. Wash pots and pans, following proper steps for the two-sink method and recording as required.
  7. Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
  8. Adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environmental safety, and infection control.
  9. Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs as assigned.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What You Bring
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate
  • Cook certificate of qualification (recommended)
  • Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC (Long Term Care) settings (0-1 year preferred)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to work safely following safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
