Welfare Agency under the Child Youth and Family Services Act serving member First
Nations situated between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury is seeking to hire a:

CONTRACT TO JUNE 30, 2025

CASUAL IN-HOME CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER

LOCATION: GREATER SUDBURY

Starting Hourly Rate: $36.88

Job Summary

The In Home Child and Youth Worker is responsible for sharing the duties of a caregiver for children and
youth within a culturally respective home. The In Home Child and Youth Worker will implement behavioral
programming, provide support services and life skills coaching all while creating a safe environment. The
In Home Child and Youth Worker will provide opportunities to nurture secure attachment, develop the
children and youth’s capacity to regulate their own emotions, and foster youth to become resilient, healthy individuals all while working within the Child Youth and Family Services Act, Ministry Act, Ministry
Standards, Agency Policies and Procedures and First Nation Community Codes of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Social Services Diploma or a related diploma in Human Services
  • One (1) year experience in a Social Services Agency or a residential setting working directly with
    children and youth
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people, organizations and communities
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Other Requirements

  • Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishnawbek culture,
    traditions and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishnaabemowin is a definite asset
  • Must provide a Criminal Records Check deemed satisfactory by the employer
  • Must have a Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel
  • Must have $1M automobile insurance coverage
  • Proof of full vaccination for Covid-19 is a requirement of this position unless due to a medical disability or religious exemption
  • Proof of immunizations and medical clearance
