Job summary

Transdev Canada is seeking dedicated HandyDART drivers in Victoria, BC to provide door-to-door transportation for individuals with mobility challenges. You will assist with boarding, securing mobility devices, and ensuring safe, courteous service while complying with safety standards.

Applicants should hold a Class 1, 2 or 4 unrestricted license, maintain a clean driving record, and be able to pass drug and background checks. The role offers flexible, casual hours and a positive community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and courteous door-to-door service to passengers driving HandyDART cutaway-style buses.
  • Assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and disembarking.
  • Comply with traffic regulations, Safety & Health regulations, and accessible transportation standards.
  • Follow routes and schedules, making stops to ensure timely destinations.
  • Provide a safe, respectful environment for passengers with specific needs.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanor.

Transdev Canada is seeking dedicated and compassionate casual HandyDART Bus Drivers to join our Victoria team.

As a HandyDART Driver, you will provide essential transportation services for individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity. If you have a strong commitment to helping others and a passion for driving, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding role.

Your role:
  • Provide safe and courteous door-to-door service to passengers driving ourcutaway-style buses.
  • Assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and disembarkingusing appropriate on-board restraints for wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations, company Safety & Health regulations, and accessible transportation standards.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules, making stops at designated locations to ensure passengers' timely arrival at their destinations.
  • Provide a safe, respectful, and empathetic environment for passengers, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any defects or maintenance issues to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanour.

Your profile:
  • You hold a Class 1, 2 or 4 Unrestricted Driver's License .
  • You have a clean driving record.
  • You must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and criminal background checks.
  • You have a strong commitment to safety and customer service, and enjoy interacting with the public.
  • You can operate accessible transportation equipment and secure mobility devices.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Prior experience in passenger transportation, especially with individuals with disabilities, is an asset.
  • This is a casual, unionized position in Victoria, BC.
  • Flexible schedule with two guaranteed days off each week.
  • HandyDART Bus Drivers must be available for at least 5 days a week.
