Job Description

The Educational Assistant is hired as support staff in classrooms with students who have specific needs, such as developmental delays, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, behavioral, social, or medical challenges, or in special education classrooms addressing social adjustment, communication, or learning disabilities. Each assignment will vary. Generally, the Educational Assistant provides support for students' academic development, addresses their physical, emotional, and hygienic needs, collaborates as part of the school team to support the assigned students or enhance the educational program, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a student enrolled in one of the following programs (Years 1 to 3): Developmental Service Worker, Child & Youth Care Worker, Social Services Worker, or a related discipline. Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, NVCI, Braille, and Signing are assets.

Salary

Hourly wage of $25.24 plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay.
