Job description

School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is accepting applications for Casual Education Assistants in Chetwynd, BC.

School District No. 59 (PRS) has a strong belief in professional development, meeting students where they are, and providing a rich meaningful experience for all learners.

Education Assistants participate in the implementation of individual programs for students in the areas of academic/intellectual, social/emotional, behaviour, and independence in an inclusive environment. An Education Assistant Diploma is desired; however, lesser qualified applicants may be considered.

Successful applicants will possess a variety of skills, including:

  1. Ability to work effectively with a full range of students, including students with special needs, utilizing specific skills and training.
  2. Ability to provide educational and functional support at K-12 levels.
  3. Ability to use patience, tolerance, and understanding in building and maintaining rapport with students.
  4. Strong communication skills while working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and colleagues.
  5. Ability to perform physical activities, such as lifting, transferring, and assisting students in a variety of activities and providing personal care as necessary.

SD 59 offers a comprehensive compensation package which includes extended health and dental benefits, life insurance, and a pension plan. The rate of pay as casual is $25.83/hour plus vacation percentage starting at 4%. The rate of pay for temporary and regular positions is $29.83/hour.
