Qualifications

• Grade 12 graduation.
• Education Assistant certificate or diploma from a recognized college, 2 year diploma preferred.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
• Special education/child care related experience.
• Must acquire specific skills related to a special needs child.
• Training and extensive behaviour management experience working with children with autism preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, students and the community.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.

Hours of Work & Salary

• Casual shifts range from 4 to 6 hours per day, Monday- Friday, while schools are in session
• Short-term assignments may also be available
• Casual employment may lead to a regular position in the district
• Education Assistant pay is $36.64 per hour (plus $0.15 per hour Labour Market Adjustment)
