Job summary

MoxiWorks, a leading PropTech company, seeks an experienced backend engineer to design scalable Ruby on Rails solutions, own architecture, and mentor teams. You will drive API design, data modeling, and modernization initiatives across a high‑growth platform.

Ideal candidates bring strong system design, autonomous work style, and hands‑on experience with AWS and observability tools. Collaboration in an Agile setting is essential, with a focus on AI‑assisted development and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Strong system design and software architecture experience.
• Experience designing APIs, database schemas, and complex backend systems.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives from idea through implementation.
• Strong code review, mentoring, and cross-team technical collaboration skills.
• Comfortable working in Scrum/Agile environments.
• Experience working with AWS and Datadog (or similar observability tools).
• AI fluency: Expert user of generative AI development tools with experience leveraging AI—including multi-agent orchestration—to accelerate software development.
• AI leadership: Proven ability to mentor engineers on AI-assisted development, establish team best practices, and drive adoption of effective AI engineering workflows.

Job description

You'll work on a mature Ruby on Rails platform, design scalable technical solutions, improve legacy systems, and influence engineering standards across the organization. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys tackling complex architecture, mentoring others, and driving technical excellence.

We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable balancing delivery with thoughtful technical decision-making. You should enjoy working in complex systems, asking difficult questions, and improving the quality of both the codebase and the engineering process.

Success in this role requires strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to influence work beyond your own immediate assignments.

Annual Salary Range

Annual Salary Range: $140,000 CAD - $150,000 CAD
