FedEx Group in Owen Sound is seeking a casual courier to provide courteous and efficient pick-up and delivery on an assigned route. You will handle shipments, ensure proper labeling, and maintain a neat, professional appearance while representing FedEx Canada and customers.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a valid driver''s license with a good driving record, and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs and handle up to 150 lbs with equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or educational equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid driver''s license and have a good driving record.
• One year of customer-oriented business experience preferred.
• Some knowledge of FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous and efficient pick-up and delivery of packages on an assigned route.
• Check shipments for conformance to FedEx Canada features of service and ensure proper labeling and paperwork.
• Accurately select and inspect packages and report stop counts and misorts.
• Operate computerized tracking/dispatch systems with correct information.
• Answer customers'' questions on FedEx Canada features of service and keep them informed about company and service requirements.
• Load/unload aircraft and containers as workload dictates and ensure safety of packages, equipment and vehicles.
• Seek additional business from current customers and inform sales of leads and market changes.
• Ensure security of FedEx and customer property and comply with government regulations and company procedures.

Job description

To provide courteous and efficient pick-up and delivery of packages on an assigned route; to check all shipments for conformance to Federal Express Canada features of service; to provide related customer service functions

Provides efficient and safe delivery and pick-up of packages while representing the company in a professional manner and maintains a neat and clean appearance consistent with the company's public image

Accomplishes accurate and timely selection and inspection of assigned packages and the subsequent reporting of stop counts and missorts

Adheres to Courier Best Practices, operating procedures, loads van and plans route for efficient delivery and pick-up of packages and ensures proper security of Federal Express and customer property, such as packages, equipment and vehicles.

Seeks additional business from current customers. Informs sales department of sales leads and market change

Ensures that packages conform to Federal Express Canada features of service, that proper labelling is provided, and that all paperwork is neat, accurate and ensures customers have adequate supply of Federal Express shipping materials

Operates computerized tracking and dispatch systems ensuring input of correct information

Answers customer's questions on Federal Express Canada's features of service and keeps customers informed about the company and its services as well as Canada, US and International requirements.

Demonstrates proficiency in features of service and equipment.

Operates vehicle safely and efficiently, complying with all government regulations and company procedures.

May perform aircraft and/or container loading/unloading and sorting and scanning of packages, as location and workload dictate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Minimum Education

High school diploma/educational equivalent

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record

Minimum Experience

One (1) year customer oriented business experience preferred

Some knowledge of Federal Express Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations an asset

Ability to lift 70 lbs and to maneuver any package weighing up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must achieve minimum threshold on mandatory pre-placement driver assessment training

Good interpersonal and communication skills
