Luther Court is hiring casual cooks in Victoria, BC. The role involves preparing meals for residents and clients, with a 6am–6pm shift, and ensuring high standards of taste, appearance and dietary compliance.

Ideal candidates hold cook qualifications, can read and communicate in English, and are legally eligible to work in Canada. COVID-19 vaccination and LTC experience are considered pluses.

Qualifications

• Current qualification as a cook with volume food preparation experience.
• Legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to organize work and meet strict time constraints.
• Criminal Record Check required upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Responsabilités

• Prepares food that meets appearance, taste and quality expectations for residents, families and clients.
• Plans and monitors daily and special event menus to meet dietary needs and stay within budget.
• Implements inventory control to maximize savings and reduce waste.
• Ensures all food prep meets health and safety requirements (e.g., Community Care Facility Act, WHMIS, WCB, provincial safety standards).
• Adheres to safety rules and safe work procedures at all times.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Cook Must Haves:

• Current qualification(s) as a cook with some experience in a volume food preparation environment.
• Legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
• Passes and complies with Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Cook Nice to Haves:

• Previous experience in Long-term / Independent Living Care Facility and/or previous food service establishment experience. .
• Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Cook Responsibilities:

• Prepares food that meets or exceeds the appearance, taste, and quality expectations of the residents, families and clients.
• Prepares and/or monitors the preparation of daily and special event menu plans to ensure individual dietary needs and standards for dietary care are met or exceeded and costs remain within approved budget allocations.
• Implements and maintains inventory control systems to maximize savings and minimize waste.
• Ensuring all phases of food preparation meets or exceeds health and safety requirements i.e. Community Care Facility Act, WHMIS, WCB, provincial safety standards etc.
• All safety rules and safe work procedures are adhered to at all times.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
