The Program

Taproot Community Support Services (formerly WJS Canada) works to improve the lives of persons in their communities through a variety of programs and services.

The Position

EARN EXTRA MONEY IN YOUR SPARE TIME! Work as much or as little as you desire.

Taproot Community Support Services is building our 24/7 CASUAL FLOAT POOL to work a variety of shifts as a Community Disability Support Worker, covering staff illness, leaves, vacation, etc.

  • Availability to work: day, night (sleep), or night (awake) shifts

Location: Group homes, private homes, or community in Edmonton, Alberta

When do I work? Set your availability and claim any available open shifts.

How much will I make? $20/hr plus pay in lieu of benefits.

When can I start? Complete the signup process, provide required security clearances, and start as soon as possible!

In Your Role You Will

  • Guide and support persons with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health issues, and/or FASD in a group home or private home setting.
  • Model socially appropriate behaviors (for the individual and the community).
  • Administer medical administration or first aid, according to prescribed procedures.
  • Receive training for: Non-violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, Suicide Prevention, etc.
  • Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter. These checks vary depending on province and sector and will be communicated by the Program Hiring Team.

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
