Casual Bus Driver

Chinook School Division is seeking applications for Casual Bus Driver positions throughout the division at the following locations:

Swift Current (Non-Union) - 4 positions

Consul (Non-Union) – 1 position

Eastend (Non-Union) – 1 position

Fox Valley (CUPE) - 2 positions

Frontier (Non-Union) – 2 positions

Leader (Non-Union) – 3 positions

Maple Creek (CUPE) – 1 position

Shaunavon (SEIU West) – 3 positions

Casual employees are contacted to work on an “as-needed” basis. Working casually allows you the flexibility of selecting which locations you work in, and which shifts you choose to accept. Casual employees are important members of our Chinook team and receive competitive wages as well as pension benefits. Some training opportunities may be available in order to ensure our casual employees are equipped with the skills they will need to work in various roles throughout the division.

  • Visit Chinook School Division’s Careers Page to view current openings.
  • Click on “Apply Online” to create an online employment profile and apply for jobs.
  • Upload a resume and cover letter to your online profile. You must include three references for your application to be considered.
  • Once your profile has been created, you need to apply to the “Casual Bus Driver” Job posting.
  • Please attach a signed SGI Driver Abstract Authorization (found here) to your application.
  • Candidates who are successfully shortlisted will be contacted for an interview.
  • Following a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to obtain their “S Endorsement”.

“S” Endorsement Process:

  1. Pick up a driver handbook from your local SGI office or the transportation department.
  2. Submit a Bus Driver Medical to SGI (you will need to make arrangements with your health care professional to have this document completed).
  3. Once the medical is completed and approved, you can book your written exam with SGI.
  4. Contact Chinook’s Driver Assessor to make arrangements for Chinook Driver Training;
  5. Book your road test with SGI.
  6. Upon successful completion, submit a copy of your “S” Endorsement certification to Human Resources.
