Job description

Urban Academy is a rapidly growing independent school in New Westminster, located in a beautiful facility across from Braid Street Skytrain Station. We are currently inviting dedicated, team-oriented individuals to apply for our casual Bus Driver position for the remainder of this school year and the 2025-2026 school year.

Qualifications:

1. Secondary school graduation
2. Valid B.C. Class 4 driver’s license with a safe driving record; a driver’s abstract to be provided annually
3. Completion of a Criminal Records Check
4. Thorough knowledge of safe operation rules and safety precautions for driving a school bus
5. Sufficient physical strength to lift materials and equipment, and ability to follow safe working practices, including proper lifting techniques
6. Effective communication skills with students, parents, teachers, and supervisors
7. Ability to work cooperatively with others
8. Ability to direct students with authority and diplomacy, following departmental procedures to ensure safe behaviour
9. Working knowledge of school operations, policies, and procedures
10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
11. Previous experience driving large multi-passenger vehicles and working with groups of children are assets

Compensation and Work Hours:

• Competitive hourly rate: $24 - $27, based on experience
• Casual hours between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm, depending on activity needs
