Job Description

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Housekeeping Lead Hand, the Housekeeper/Cleaner ensures all front and back areas of the casino are clean and maintained. They promote and maintain a positive image of the Casino to guests and colleagues. The Housekeeper/Cleaner must perform work to the highest standards, in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC) terms and conditions. They should be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment.

Shift Availability: Must be available for shift work (day, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays). The hours for this position are from 10:30 pm to 7:00 am.

Responsibilities Include
  • Report to the Housekeeping Lead and Supervisor
  • Maintain integrity and provide excellent customer service to patrons, employees, and casino personnel
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, performing assigned cleaning duties such as:
  • - Cleaning ashtrays
  • - Removing garbage
  • - Vacuuming
  • - Cleaning game tables
  • - Dusting
  • - Wiping machines
  • - Cleaning bathrooms
  • - Floor waxing and striping
  • - Carpet shampooing
  • - Other duties as required

Respond to spills, contamination, and handle bodily fluids or sharps following Universal Precaution Protocol. Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and customers. Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, policies, and procedures, including OHSA and WHMIS. Attend necessary training and perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cleaning experience preferred but not necessary
Skills Requirements
  • Knowledge of floor machines and relevant equipment
  • WHMIS and Biohazard cleanup experience is an asset
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Ability to lift up to approximately 55 lbs and perform repetitive movements
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Attention to detail and responsibility
  • Ability to mentor and train new staff
  • Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment
  • Must have or be willing to obtain WHMIS certification
