Job summary

Giant Tiger in Gatineau, QC is seeking a friendly, motivated Full-Time Cashier to help customers, work as part of a team, and contribute to a smooth, positive shopping experience at the checkout.

You will accurately record transactions on the cash register and self‑checkout systems, replenish merchandise, maintain a clean work area, follow health and safety policies, and adhere to loss‑prevention practices; familiarity with tobacco and lottery policy is required.

Cashier (Full-Time)

We are looking for friendly, motivated people who enjoy helping customers and working as part of a team. This posting represents a current opportunity at Giant Tiger.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a high level of customer service at the checkouts.
• Accurately record customer transactions in the electronic cash register, mainline, and self‑checkout systems.
• Replenish merchandise around the checkout area.
• Follow health and safety policies and guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout work area.
• Follow loss‑prevention best practices.
• Ensure compliance with all policies when selling Tobacco and Lottery.

Schedule

A typical full‑time schedule consists of day shifts, two evenings per week, and alternating weekends, with a total of 35–40 hours weekly. A part‑time schedule, if applicable, includes a mix of days, evenings, and weekends up to 24 hours weekly.

Physical Demands

Stand and/or walk; bend, twist, and squat; lift and/or move up to 18 kg (40 lbs.); perform tasks requiring firm grasping and repetitive hand motions; reach above shoulder height and below waist level; operate equipment, including using a ladder.
