Job summary

Nature's Fare Markets in Vernon, BC is seeking a friendly cashier to join our front-of-house team. You’ll guide customers through their purchase, handle payments with accuracy, and help keep the store looking great on evenings and weekends.

The role offers 32–40 hours per week with weekend shifts, flexible benefits, and opportunities to learn about our local, organic products while enjoying a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience handling money and processing transactions is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 22 kg.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with purchases.
• Answer questions and direct to department staff when needed.
• Promote loyalty and promotions to customers (Fare Points, smoothie cards).
• Ring up items and process payments accurately.
• Send customers off with a friendly goodbye as they leave.
• Support teammates to keep the store looking its best.
• Learn about products and promotions to better assist customers.

Regular Store Hours:

Mon – Sat 8:00am – 8:00pm
Sun 9:00am – 7:00pm

CASHIER

As part of our front of houseteam, you are passionate about leaving a positive and lasting impression with those you interact with. You are the first to say hi to others and are passionate about doing the right thing and being kind to those around you! This role guides customers through their purchase and assists with any last-minute questions or product selections. You are a trusted member of the overall team and are responsible for handling payment and transactions with great accuracy.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Give a warm “hello!” to our customers as they enter the store– we like building connections with our new and regular customers and sharing a laugh along the way.
• Assist customers with any last-minute questions they may have about products and call for the specific department team member for help, if needed.
• Let people know about the awesome incentives we have for customers including our customer loyalty program (Fare Points) and smoothie cards.
• Ring through products for the customer, place them in their bag and process payment to complete the transaction.
• Send our customers off with a “See you again soon!” as they exit the store.
• This position works as part of a team and jumps in to help ensure team members are supported and our products and store look their best!
• Learn about new products and featured products that are on sale through Nature’s Fare’s flyers and magazines.
• In other words, you will help others, share your knowledge on our amazing products, be safe, be a great team player and have fun!

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Experience in a customer service role would be nice, but it’s not needed.
• Experience handling money and processing transactions is a plus, but not needed.
• Great communication skills
• A passion for local, organic and sustainable food and natural supplements
• Able to stand for long periods of time and deal with exposure to hot and/or cold environments
• Ability to lift 22 kg.
