Join CAMH’s dynamic Youth-VAST - the Youth Vaping Alcohol Substance Use and Technology Dependence Program supporting youth aged 12-21 across Ontario with early intervention and brief treatment services for nicotine, substance, alcohol, and technology-related dependencies. As a Youth Care Coach you will play a vital role in youth engagement, intake assessment, case management and care navigation within a collaborative and interdisciplinary team.
Youth-VAST supports an integrated clinical collaboration model across the INTREPID Lab (a leading hub for smoking and vaping treatment research and education); the Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Programs and the Acute Care Addictions Program.
Joignez-vous à l’équipe dynamique du Programme Vapotage, usage de substances et d’addiction à la technologie chez les jeunes (VAST-Jeunesse) de CAMH qui vient en aide aux jeunes de 12-21 ans de partout en Ontario en leur offrant des services d’intervention précoce et de traitement de courte durée en lien avec la dépendance, la nicotine, les substances psychoactives, l’alcool et la technologie. En votre qualité d’accompagnatrice ou d’accompagnateur en soins pour les jeunes vous jouerez un rôle essentiel dans la mobilisation des jeunes, l’évaluation des jeunes lors de la prise en charge, la gestion des cas et l’orientation dans le domaine des soins de santé au sein d’une équipe interdisciplinaire.
The Case Worker remains involved throughout the youths brief treatment journey to ensure smooth transitions and discharge planning. As part of an inter-professional team the Case Worker:
The successful candidate will have a Three-year Child and Youth Care Diploma. Membership in good standing with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC) is required. A minimum of 2 years experience working with adolescents in community mental health, addictions or school-based settings is essential. Experience supporting youth with substance use, behavioural addictions (e.g., gaming, internet use) or co-occurring mental health concerns is considered an asset. Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention, case management and motivational interviewing is strongly preferred. Candidates with training or certification in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed care or mindfulness-based approaches will be given priority consideration. The ability to provide culturally competent care to clients from diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is essential. Experience completing comprehensive clinical assessments for children and families as part of an interdisciplinary team is required. Strong organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills are critical as is the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Experience delivering group programming is also an asset. Proficiency in computer applications including word processing, electronic communication and workload measurement systems is required. Bilingualism (French / English) or fluency in another language is considered an asset.
