The Department of Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care is currently seeking a suitably qualified person to join the Insured Benefits Branch as a Case Coordinator in the out of province/reciprocal agreement unit. The Insured Benefits Branch provides customer service to Manitobans claiming medical expenses incurred out of province and Manitoba residents receiving emergency and referred medical services outside of the province or country.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience assessing, evaluating and determining eligibility of claims related to health or other insurance.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures and/or regulations.
- Experience providing customer care, support and assistance in a professional environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
- Effective written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage competing and rapidly changing priorities with strict timelines.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Desired:
- Experience reviewing and interpreting health records, hospital abstracts and/or surgical reports.
- Experience in processing and approving payments.
Duties:
Case Coordinators assess, evaluate and determine eligibility for remuneration in accordance with applicable provincial regulations and reciprocal agreements and provides analysis of foreign cases on services rendered outside of Canada to determine eligibility for insurance in part or in whole, in accordance with the Health Services Insurance Act (HSIA). They are also responsible for initiating and preparing formal written communication to health care providers, facilities, other provincial or territorial agencies regarding Manitoba Health payments, policies, claiming procedures, plan coverage, or seeking additional information for claim review and liaise with Manitoban, Canadian, or International health facilities to facilitate claim adjudication.
