Job description

Compensation: $22-$33 per hour (full-time / permanent)

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of returning properties to their pre-disaster state, GRTs utilize skills in carpentry, drywalling, painting, and more. Making clients believe magic has happened is part of a GRT's daily routine.

The versatile GRT is skilled in:

  • Repairs to wooden structures
  • Framing
  • Drywalling, mudding, sanding, finishing
  • Painting (walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, not portraiture)
  • Ceiling installation, knockdown, texturing
  • Insulation and vapour barrier installation
  • Doors, trim, moldings, baseboards
  • Cabinetry

The GRT brings a proactive, 'get it done!' attitude and:

  • Experience in construction environments
  • Tools and skills to operate them
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, pride in quality work
  • Safety-conscious mindset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass criminal record checks
  • English communication skills

Additional helpful but not mandatory skills:

  • Skilled trades tickets (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
  • IICRC certification (restoration focus)
  • WHMIS
  • First Aid

Note: Disaster response requires rotating 24/7 on-call work, including after-hours shifts.
