Job description

Carpenter (Multi-Skilled Tradesperson) – Sudbury
  • Sudbury, ON

Compensation: $24 – $30/hour (full-time / permanent)

Join On Side as a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson, where you'll rebuild and restore damaged property following disasters. Your skills in carpentry, drywall, painting, and more will help restore properties to their pre-disaster state, making a real difference for clients.

The role requires proficiency in:

  • Rough and trim carpentry
  • Drywall repairs: taping, mudding, sanding, finishing
  • Painting: walls, ceilings, trim
  • Ceiling installation, knockdown, texturing
  • Insulation and vapour barrier installation
  • Doors, trim, moldings, baseboards
  • Cabinetry and wooden structure repairs
  • Framing

What you bring:

  • A proactive 'get it done!' attitude
  • Experience in interior carpentry repairs
  • Leadership skills to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Construction environment experience
  • Tools and proficiency in their use
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, pride in quality work, and a safety mindset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
  • English communication skills

Additional helpful but not mandatory skills:

  • Trades tickets (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
  • IICRC certification (restoration focus)
  • WHMIS
  • First Aid

Note: Disaster response may require rotating 24/7 on-call shifts, including after-hours work.
