Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Maintenance and Operations Manager, the Carpenter Lead Hand will:

  • Establish and performs PM routines, and performs troubleshooting and repair to buildings, windows, roofs, flooring, doors, furniture, locks, signage, and other building related items.
  • Work closely with any outside agency that is required to perform work on the above noted systems. Uses any such collaboration to enhance knowledge and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Assist other maintenance staff in PM, troubleshooting, and repair of buildings in terms of doors, walls, flooring, roofs, furniture, signage, locks, windows, etc.
  • Establish a good working knowledge of all building carpentry schematics, drawings, and manuals within the complex.
  • Attend training sessions to keep up with technological changes in carpentry, locks, signage, and buildings.
  • Act as the lead carpenter tradesperson and oversees scheduled and emergency maintenance work necessary to maintain the buildings. Directs and coordinates the work of a group of Carpenters and Painters.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Carpenter Lead Hand you will have:

  • Certified Carpenter Tradesperson with two (2) years related experience in construction or maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner conveying and responding to information.
  • Ability to perform all duties in a safe manner, following health and safety legislation and all required safe work practices and procedures, in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a positive working relationship.
  • Ability to work alone and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
