Ice River Sustainable Solutions in Ontario is seeking a reliable Carpenter Helper to support residential and commercial renovations. You’ll assist with framing, drywall, flooring, and material handling, using basic hand and power tools while maintaining safety and quality.

You'll work under a licensed carpenter, with 1–2 years of experience, and have the opportunity to progress toward an apprenticeship. The role offers straight days, competitive pay of $25 per hour, and company benefits.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of carpentry experience, under a licensed carpenter.
• Knowledge of carpentry practices and tool use.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry tasks including measuring, cutting, constructing structures, and fixtures.
• Demolition and site prep as needed.
• Operate power saws, hammers, drills, and hand tools.
• Install drywall, trim, siding, and roofing as required.
• Maintain clean and organized work area; receive guidance from experienced carpenter.

Position Summary

Reliable and safety-focused Carpenter Helper with experience supporting residential and commercial renovation projects. Skilled in assisting with framing, drywall installation, flooring, demolition, and material handling. Able to use basic hand and power tools, follow technical instructions, and maintain clean, organized work areas. Supports carpenters with measurements, cutting, assembly, and installation with quality standards. Known for strong work ethic, physical stamina, teamwork, and a commitment to completing tasks efficiently and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of carpentry work including measuring and cutting materials, constructing structures, and installing fixtures. Demolition and site prep is occasionally required.
• Work with a wide range of tools including power saws, hammers, drills, and hand tools.
• Assist in the installation and maintenance of interior and exterior finishes such as drywall, trim, siding, and roofing.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Receive training and guidance from an experienced carpenter.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Skills/Experience

• With 1-2 years experience and reporting to a Licensed Carpenter, you will have the opportunity to be registered as a 1st or 2nd year apprentice.
• Knowledge of carpentry practices and skill in using tools and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to try new things and assume additional responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid Drivers License and reliable transportation are required.

Working and Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for long periods of time, able to crouch, bend and kneel, as well as capable of heavy lifting and carrying of materials.
• Able to climb ladders and comfortable working at heights and elevated platforms.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity is essential.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions.

Pay Rate

Pay Rate: $25.00/hr.
