Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY AWAITS YOU

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Fixed Assets and Maintenance, the Journeyperson Carpenter is responsible for maintaining and addressing the day-to-day carpentry needs of REAL grounds and facilities. This includes general building repair and maintenance using a variety of materials. The successful carpenter will possess the ability to think quickly and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position is physically strenuous and requires attention to detail.

What You Will Do
  • Ensures quality operational execution of day-to day Carpentry needs throughout REAL property, by:
  • Inspect buildings and facilities for needed services and repairs.
  • Perform interior and exterior carpentry work involved with small project construction and remodeling.
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Assist with estimating carpentry time and materials for projects.
  • Build, modify, create, repair, and/or install furniture, paneling, countertops, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, and windows. Replace building/door hardware, hang plasterboard, and form and finish concrete.
  • Reading and understanding of blueprints, sketches and building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required while conforming to local building codes.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as required.

Duration: May 12, 2025 to August 12, 2025.

Wage Range: $35.17 - $39.37

Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

Education And Experience
  • Two years journey level experience and training in rough and finish carpentry.
  • Journeyperson Carpenter certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License and a clean drivers abstract.
  • Knowledge of specific materials, power and hand tools; and methods used in the building, repair, and maintenance of assigned trade required.
  • Must be proficient in and champion a work environment of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
