Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the Superintendent in overseeing daily activities, ensuring that work progresses according to schedule and project requirements.
  • Lead and direct subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to established guidelines.
  • Enforce safety protocols, monitor on-site activities to ensure safety regulations are followed.
  • Help maintain high-quality standards by ensuring that the work performed adheres to building codes, specifications, and the project’s quality standards.
  • Identify and address issues on-site, such as delays, material shortages, or conflicts between workers, in coordination with the Superintendent.
  • Assist in ensuring that materials, tools, and equipment are readily available, properly stored, and utilized efficiently on-site.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, safety records, and other documentation, reporting any issues or updates to the Superintendent.
  • Report project progress, issues, or challenges to the Superintendent as required.
  • Guide and mentor on-site workers to ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and efficient work practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience working in a commercial construction setting (intermediate to skilled level)
  • Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent experience; Red Seal an asset.
  • WHMIS 2015 certification (completed or willingness to obtain)
  • First Aid certification (completed or willingness to obtain)
  • Fall Protection certification (completed or willingness to obtain)
  • CSTS training (Construction Safety Training System) (completed or willingness to obtain)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience and understanding in carpentry skills, formwork, and concrete processes for various weather is an asset.
  • Proven leadership experience in building construction, preferably with a general contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Expertise in managing schedules, tasks, and resources efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Work Conditions:

  • Working on construction sites, both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.).
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and lifting materials as needed.
  • Travel between job sites may be necessary.
  • Work hours may vary, including occasional overtime, depending on project deadlines and demands.
  • Must be open to work & travel outside of Edmonton area.
