Job description

Compensation: $25 – $30 /hour (full-time / permanent)

Carpenters (General Repairs Technicians) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of returning properties to their pre-disaster state, GRTs utilize skills in carpentry, drywall, painting, and more. Making clients believe magic has happened is part of a typical day for a GRT.

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following areas:

  • Repairs to wooden structures of all types
  • Framing
  • Installation of flooring, doors, trim, moldings, and baseboards
  • Cabinetry
  • General problem-solving and craftsmanship

What you bring

The GRT brings a proactive, 'get it done!' attitude along with:

  • 5-10 years experience in flooring installation
  • Experience working in construction environments
  • Tools and the skills to operate them
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, passion for quality, and pride in your work
  • A safety-conscious mindset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
  • Proficiency in English communication

Additional helpful but not mandatory qualifications:

  • Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
  • WHMIS certification
  • First Aid certification

Note

Disasters can occur at any time, requiring a rotating schedule that includes 24/7 after-hours on-call work.
