Job description

Compensation : $28 – $35 / hour (full-time / permanent)

Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT. This role is for a well-rounded renovator!

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways :

• Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
• Framing
• Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
• Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
• Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
• Insulation and vapour barrier installation
• Being awesome, in general!
• Doors
• Trim, moldings, and baseboards
• Cabinetry

The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done!’ attitude. Additional abilities required include :

• Experience working in construction environments
• Tools and the skills to use them
• Strong people and communication skills
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• A safety mindset
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory :

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24 / 7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
