Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, responsible for building, repairing, replacing, renovating, or constructing Board structures to ensure safety, customization, and optimal use. Provide estimates for project requests and supervise summer students.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build custom millwork: receive requests, prepare scaled floor plans and drawings, select materials, order supplies, measure, cut, assemble, finish, install hardware, coordinate with painters, and deliver/install.
  2. Repair or replace structures: assess needs, repair or replace doors, stage doors, counters, millwork, gym benches, floors, and build or modify items for students as needed.
  3. Provide estimates: meet with staff, determine costs and timelines, discuss alternatives.
  4. Build or renovate features: construct walls, openings, ramps, bulletin boards, and perform other renovations as requested.
  5. Supervise summer students as assigned.
  6. Perform other duties as required.
Equipment Used

Drafting tools, hand and power tools, heavy equipment, vehicles, computers, work order software.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma, Community College Certificate in Carpentry, apprenticeship for carpenter trades ticket.
  • 1-2 years licensed carpenter experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S., safety regulations, Ontario Building and Fire codes, other trades.
  • Effective communication, ability to work independently and in teams, computer skills.
  • Physical ability as per Physical Demands Analysis.
  • Availability for day and evening shifts.

  • This is a 40-hour/week afternoon shift.
