Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Construction. Renovation. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Instruct apprentices. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Perform various trade work during home construction or renovation activities. Co-ordinate implementation of repairs, maintenance and renovation. Recommend or arrange for additional services required such as painting, repair work, renovations or replacement of furnishings and equipment. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years.
