Job summary

York Tile Solutions Inc. is seeking a on-site carpenter with strong knowledge of building codes to prepare layouts, measure and cut materials, and oversee site work in North York. The role requires 7 months to less than 1 year of experience and a high school diploma.

English proficiency is required for communication with clients and team members. The job is permanent, full-time, located at our North York site, and starts as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
• Survey building locations and levels
• Instruct apprentices
• Estimate costs and materials
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
