Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter to join our multifamily construction team in Ontario. Under the direction of the Site Superintendent, the Carpenter will perform Division 1 (General Requirements) and Division 6 (Wood, Plastics, and Composites) tasks, including framing, formwork, and finishing work. This role requires precision, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with other trades to ensure project quality and progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in site setup, including installing temporary fencing, hoarding, and signage as directed.
  • Support site cleanup and material organization to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Perform minor repairs or adjustments to temporary facilities under the Site Superintendent’s guidance.
  • Construct, install, and repair wood and metal framing for walls, floors, and roofs per project plans and specifications.
  • Build and install concrete formwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Install doors, windows, trim, and other millwork, ensuring proper alignment and finishing.
  • Work with engineered wood products, laminates, and composite materials as specified.
  • Perform rough and finish carpentry, including drywall backing, blocking, and cabinetry installation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to execute tasks accurately.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Site Superintendent and other trades to coordinate tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, reporting any damage or safety concerns to the Site Superintendent.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure work complies with Ontario Building Code, project specifications, and company quality standards.
  • Perform additional carpentry or site support tasks as assigned by the Site Superintendent.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience in residential or multifamily construction, with proficiency in Division 6 tasks. Experience with Division 1 tasks is an asset.
  • Education: Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or equivalent training preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid Working at Heights, WHMIS, and Basic Safety Training certifications required. Red Seal Carpenter certification is an asset.
  • Skills: Proficient in using hand and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, levels). Ability to read blueprints and perform precise measurements. Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the job site are preferred.
  • Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, to meet project deadlines.
  • Compliance: Must comply with Ontario’s health and safety regulations and company policies.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed on active construction sites, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Requires wearing PPE, including hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, and gloves.
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with the Site Superintendent and other trades.
