About Strescon

Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. The primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces, the New England region of the United States, and Bermuda. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products, including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling, and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq.ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq.ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Strescon is currently seeking a Carpenter’s Assistant to work alongside our Carpenter in the precast plant. Possibility of the role growing into a more senior carpentry position over time.

Responsibilities

1. Construction of form work for concrete precast
2. Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wooden materials
3. Work with resin, fiberglass, and body fill
4. Sanding
5. Other responsibilities as required

1. Must have own transportation, no public transportation available
2. Previous experience working in a carpentry role
3. Ability to speak and comprehend basic English
4. Knowledge of basic tools and their uses
5. An aptitude for reading blueprints
6. Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, division, & multiplication)
7. Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a measuring tape
8. Willing to follow company safety protocols
9. Excellent attendance and a positive attitude
10. Must be a team player, self-motivated, and able to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment
