HOURS OF WORK: 24-hour workweek / shift work / variable hours

LOCATION: West Tower

HOURLY RATE: $27.12 per hour

JOB TYPE: Union

Area of Responsibility

Reporting to the Coordinator, Housekeeping, the Caretaker is responsible for cleaning and maintaining Corporate properties.

  • Provide quality customer service to all customers, tenants, and end-users of Corporate properties.
  • Perform indoor housekeeping activities, including vacuuming, dusting, polishing, dry and wet mopping, spray buffing.
  • Collect recycling materials and garbage, replace bags, and dispose of waste as directed.
  • Disinfect and sanitize washrooms, lobbies, and public counters; clean sinks, toilets, mirrors, windows, and doors; replace supplies; unclog toilets.
  • Provide outdoor maintenance such as litter picking, graffiti removal, gum removal, cigarette butt disposal, waste container cleaning, snow removal, and walkway salting.
  • Perform scheduled specialty cleaning, operate cleaning equipment (steam/shampoo carpets, scrub floors, buff, strip/wax floors), and clean elevator tracks and chairs.
  • Set up and take down tables and chairs for meetings and events; move furniture as needed.
  • Assist in emergencies, familiar with fire and intrusion alarm systems.
  • Monitor and report minor maintenance issues, vandalism, vagrancy, and security concerns.
  • Maintain care-taking equipment and tools, report damages or malfunctions.
  • Assist building operators as required.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria

Education:

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 6 months to 1 year experience in cleaning in an office environment and operating heavy-duty cleaning equipment.

Skills and Assets:

  • Ability to work variable shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preference given to residents of Brampton. Various tests/exams may be administered during selection.
