Position SummaryThe Career Services Specialist is responsible for identifying and placing students into program-related externships, as well as providing support and guidance to help graduates obtain employment in their field of study.
Essential Functions- Liaise with Faculty, Business Affairs, Administration, and Employment Specialist to validate students' completion of externship prerequisites, including academic, financial obligations, medical, police clearance documentation, and resumes.
- Work with employers to request practicum opportunities for students in designated programs.
- Plan and facilitate externship orientation sessions and prepare documentation packages to ensure a successful transition into the work environment.
- Receive and track student externship attendance records weekly.
- Facilitate the externship exit process with students to verify completion of requirements and collect documentation for school records.
- Manage receipt and verification of medical immunization forms.
- Oversee collection of VSS Police Clearance forms from new students and submit them to Toronto Police for processing.
- Prepare program completion letters.
- Electronically circulate employment opportunities from external partners to program graduates.
- Maintain communication with program graduates via phone and email at designated intervals to determine employment status.
- Maintain internal KPI reporting metrics for graduate employment.
- Assess graduate employment support needs and refer to the Employment Specialist as required.
- Communicate new hires to campus staff.
- Write and distribute current student letters as requested.
- Order textbooks and perform inventory checks.
- Work professionally in a team environment.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Campus Director.
Position RequirementsFormal Education and Job-Related Experience: This position requires a minimum of a post-secondary diploma/degree in Business Administration or a related field. A minimum of three years of work experience in employment or educational fields is required.
