Description
The School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary is seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief Career Development and Engagement Specialist for approximately 1 year.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Graduate Programs, the specialist provides career support to graduate students and alumni through programs, coaching, internships, mentorship, and employment opportunities. The role involves collaboration with faculty, departments, industry partners, and external stakeholders to develop initiatives that enhance engagement.
This is a one-year maternity leave replacement position, working full-time (35 hours/week) on campus. Flexibility for occasional outside hours and travel between campus locations and external sites is required.
The primary focus is on supporting MPP and SEDV students' career development and transition to alumni status. Key responsibilities include designing and delivering career programs, building industry relationships, managing internship and mentorship programs, and engaging with alumni and student groups. The role also involves managing the Alberta Policy Internship Program, tracking employment data, and supporting recruitment and promotional activities.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 5-10 years of experience in career development or related areas, strong communication and relationship management skills, and proficiency with career services platforms and data management tools. A Master's degree and career coaching certification are assets.
