The Career Catalyst, Newcomers & Refugees is a key position at the Construction Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and supporting a community of Newcomers in the Kamloops region.
The mission of this role is to help develop community and employment connections for Newcomers through credential recognition, skills inventories, community event support, and connection to our referral network of partners.
The Construction Foundation’s mandate is to build the next generation of skilled workers. Our network spans across British Columbia, engaging thousands as they explore and plan their future.
Established in 2012, the Construction Foundation is a registered Canadian charity. We foster community engagement through charitable initiatives and industry-focused education and research that benefit all British Columbians.
Our first fundraising campaign, Project Shop Class, aimed to assist BC’s secondary schools with new shop class equipment. Over six years, we raised and distributed over $3 million to support shop class programs in schools.
You seek meaningful work with impactful outcomes. As a Career Catalyst, you will support individuals pursuing training and employment in skilled trades, community integration, and access to services and employers committed to helping them settle into their new country. You are self-motivated, collaborative, hands-on, and capable of managing both big-picture strategies and detailed tasks.
In this role, you will work with a team of four catalysts, focusing on outreach within the newcomer communities on Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland.
The position is based in Victoria, BC or Kamloops, BC.
