Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in North York is seeking a Care Support Assistant for Cheltenham Community. This role involves providing day-to-day care, ensuring a warm and safe environment, and supporting residents through events and daily activities.

Responsibilities include assisting with meals, laundry, housekeeping, admissions orientation, and transporting residents as needed. The position emphasizes compassionate communication and adherence to checks and health requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate and WHMIS certificate.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and visitors.
  • Ability to model the warmth of human connection in communication with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Applicable to Ontario applicants).
  • All successful candidates must meet the provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day care and support to each individual resident, ensuring a warm, safe environment and meeting their comfort and welfare needs.
  • Support residents to prepare for and participate in Care Community events that promote a positive resident experience.
  • Act as a resident companion as directed, providing comfort, support and companionship to the residents.
  • Assist with table/tray preparation, serving of beverages and accompaniments, and serving of food.
  • Complete laundry and housekeeping duties as directed, including restocking shelves, making beds, transporting personal laundry to and from the laundry to the residents’ rooms, organizing closets, and cleaning bedside tables.
  • Participate in admission orientation and the transfer process of residents as directed.
  • Transport residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office, and dining room as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
