Job summary

Home Instead Calgary is seeking compassionate caregivers to join our growing team. You will provide personal hygiene assistance, support daily living activities, and ensure safety for aging clients in their homes.

The ideal candidate has a can-do attitude, reliable transportation, and a true desire to help seniors. Prior experience in healthcare is preferred; we offer flexible scheduling and ongoing training. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting and eager to learn new skills.
• Ability to perform all essential job functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation daily.
• Available to work the same shifts each week.
• Healthcare/home care experience (minimum 1 year).
• Willing to enforce health and safety standards.
• Show compassion and provide high quality care.
• Clear criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly clients at home.
• Remind clients to take prescribed medications.
• Assist with mobility and accompany doctor visits or walks.
• Support with personal care and hygiene needs.
• Plan and prepare meals for clients.
• Complete shopping or accompany clients to stores.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
• Report incidents and respond quickly in emergencies.
• Offer daily living activities and meal assistance as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly clients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating
• Remindclients to take prescribed medication
• Help with mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
• Assist with personal care and hygiene
• Plan and prepare meals
• Complete client’s shopping or accompany them to successfully do so
• Perform housekeeping duties
• Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
• Offer activities that are essential for daily living by assisting clients with their meals, including serving and other tasks, if necessary

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
• Ability to perform all essential job functions
• Great written and verbal communication skills, in English
• Valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation every single day
• Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Available to work the same shifts each week
• Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year)
• Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
