Job summary

Pro Vita Care Management in Victoria, BC is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead facility upkeep across our care residences. You will plan preventive maintenance, supervise staff and external contractors, and coordinate safety and compliance to support resident care.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life-safety systems, plus experience in healthcare settings. Monday–Friday daytime shift, with an emphasis on reliability and safe operation of aging

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in building maintenance, facilities management, engineering, building systems, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive building maintenance or facilities experience, preferably in healthcare, long-term care, residential care, or a complex institutional environment.
Demonstrated supervisory experience, including scheduling, training, directing, and evaluating staff and contractors.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, emergency power, fire/life-safety, security, elevators, building envelope, and general mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of applicable BC legislation, codes, and standards, including BC Building and Fire Codes, WorkSafeBC requirements, occupational health and safety, infection prevention, and residential care requirements.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and carry out facility maintenance, general repairs, and operational tasks to support the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Develop, implement, and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance schedules and service programs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
Plan, coordinate, and participate in facility improvements, repairs, and upgrades to maintain building functionality, safety, and operational efficiency.
Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs, deficiencies, potential hazards, and required corrective actions.
Perform general maintenance and repairs, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical work, and equipment repairs, in accordance with applicable safety standards and qualifications.
Respond to maintenance requests, investigate equipment malfunctions, and take appropriate corrective action to ensure issues are resolved safely and promptly.
Support compliance with applicable legislation, occupational health and safety standards, building codes, infection control requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate operational documentation, maintenance records, inspection reports, equipment inventories, and other facility-related information.
Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers for maintenance services, repairs, equipment replacement, and procurement of necessary supplies and parts.
Balance hands-on operational responsibilities with work planning, resource coordination, and ongoing assessment of facility needs and priorities, including maintaining emergency systems, supporting facility safety, and responding to operational emergencies.
