About The Job

As a Care Aide, you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team providing care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of RNs and LPNs, Care Aides have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are supported while promoting maximum independence.

Typical Duties Include:
  • Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers, and related equipment
  • Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse, and respiration
  • Housekeeping activities related to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
  • Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
  • Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks

This is a Permanent Part-Time (0.47 FTE) opportunity. Shifts will include days, evenings, and nights rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00, and 23:00 to 07:00 hours.

Start date is estimated for August 2025 and may be adjusted based on LTC opening plans. Prior to opening, schedules will be adjusted to a Monday-Friday (08:30-16:30) schedule to facilitate orientation, training, and LTC setup.

Introducing Nelson Fairview Gardens, a new facility operated by Interior Health as part of the Nelson Community Health Campus. It will accommodate 75 adults requiring long-term care, featuring five neighborhoods across three floors, with outdoor spaces offering mountain and lake views.

Located in Nelson, a charming city with over 10,000 residents, midway between Vancouver and Calgary, with nearby airports in Castlegar and Trail. Nelson is known for its blend of charm and sophistication, situated on Kootenay Lake, offering extensive recreational opportunities and modern amenities.

Qualifications
  • Grade 10
  • Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Aide Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (please include your active number)
