Job summary

The Salvation Army International in Victoria, BC, is hiring a Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate personal care to residents at Sunset Lodge. You will assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and daily living activities, while maintaining resident dignity and safety throughout your shift.

You will work closely with LPNs/RNs, document observations, support meal service, and participate in care planning and conferences.

Qualifications

• Must have Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent.
• Current BC Care Aide and Community Registration 2.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents (bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene).
• Ensure resident safety and assist with transfers using assistive devices.
• Record observations and report changes to LPN/RN.
• Assist with meals and monitor intake.
• Prepare residents for activities and care conferences.

Job Description: Responsibilities

• Provides personal care to residents, such as bathing, dressing, grooming oral hygiene and care of skin and nails.
• Through appropriate behavior and work procedures, resident safety is priority while working in the facility.
• Assists with transfers and mobilization of residents using body mechanics, transfer belts and mechanical aides such as walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts in accordance with policy of Sunset Lodge.
• Records observations and reports any changes/concerns in resident’s condition, such as behavior, mobility, temperature, skin status, appetite and attitude to the LPN or RN.
• Transports residents to and from dining room areas and transports residents to chapel, activities, other programs, or services
• Assists residents with meals; serving, meal assistance, monitors residents’ intake and reports on resident’s intake when intake varies from their Nutrition Care Plan.
• Provides written/verbal information on the activities of daily living and works with the LPN/RN to develop the Resident’s Care Plan and attends Care Conferences as required.
• Assists with admission process and orientation of new residents according to policy.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment and safety hazards to LPN or RN.
• Performs scheduled cleaning of W/C, walkers, tubs, lifts, and other equipment.
• Assists with the orientation of new staff as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Experience

• Grade 10, plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Current BC Care Aide and Community Registration 2.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $31.64 to $31.64 with a maximum of $31.64. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
