Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is Calgary’s second largest tertiary care site, located in the city’s Southwest. It provides acute, outpatient, critical care, surgical, medical, neonatal intensive care, mental health, seniors, women’s, and emergency health services. The facility hosts two units dedicated to the Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone. Annually, RGH sees approximately 47,000 Medical Outpatients. The Cardiac Diagnostics department within RGH is currently recruiting a casual Cardiology Technologist I. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Cardiology Technologist is responsible for performing various cardiac tests, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these test results, and processing the resulting data.
As a Cardiology Technologist I, you will prepare patients for non-invasive cardiac testing to investigate cardiac abnormalities and function, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing, and Ambulatory Monitoring. You will explain procedures, educate patients on equipment function, collect client history, analyze and summarize test results, and generate reports for physician interpretation. You will also be responsible for the set-up, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting of equipment, and implementing resuscitation measures when necessary. Additionally, you will precept and orient new staff and students, provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees, and serve as a clinical resource for staff and patients regarding cardiology technology.
