The salary range for this position is CAD $36.61 - $45.73 per hour.

Detailed Overview

Under the direction of the Manager or Supervisor, performs pacemaker analysis and programs pacemakers to correct values/optimal settings within clinics, operating rooms, or various hospital areas. Assists surgeons during implant procedures within the OR. Conducts tests such as Electro Cardiogram (ECG), stress testing, holter, and pacemaker programming, monitoring, and related procedures; provides interpretations, analyses, and reports as needed. Monitors pacemaker functions, reports abnormalities, and troubleshoots issues. Participates in developing and reviewing standards, procedures, and instructional materials relevant to pacemaker services; assists in training staff and residents in pacemaker functions and programming.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews and maintains records related to patient history, vital signs, and pacemaker details.
  • Performs pacemaker analysis and programming in clinics and hospital areas, assisting surgeons during implant procedures and setting pacemakers to optimal values.
  • Conducts tests to determine lead thresholds, calculates safety values, and maintains data records for physician review.
  • Performs ECG, stress tests, holter, and pacemaker monitoring; analyzes test strips and summarizes data for physician interpretation.
  • Monitors pacemakers, reports abnormalities, and communicates with cardiologists; manages data entry and record-keeping.
  • Acts as a resource for physicians and health providers, providing troubleshooting and information on pacemaker functions.
  • Responds to internal and external queries regarding pacemaker functions.
  • Contributes to the development and review of standards and procedures.
  • Assists in training staff and residents in pacemaker functions and programming.
  • Provides orientation and training to staff as directed.
  • Participates in pacemaker device evaluation and selection, providing recommendations.
  • Explains procedures to patients and prepares them for testing.
  • Maintains equipment, performs quality control, and arranges for repairs as needed.
  • Manages supply levels and handles intracardiac diagnostic equipment.
  • Distributes patient reports to relevant departments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level, successful completion of a recognized pacemaker specialty exam, and two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Certification from the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) is required.
