Job summary

University of Calgary’s Department of Cardiac Sciences, Cumming School of Medicine, is seeking a Research Technician for a full-time fixed-term appointment of about one year, with the potential for extension based on grant funding. The role involves molecular medicine, cell and tissue culture, histology, and animal research, plus quantitative data analysis.

You will perform RNA purification, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture and related assays while coordinating animal

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology and execution of established protocols.
• Experience with murine tissue dissection, ex vivo tissue culture and histology.
• Experience with RNA purification, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR and Western blotting.
• Familiarity with RNA sequencing data analysis and Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out molecular and cellular experiments under supervision with senior lab members.
• Prepare samples and perform RNA purification, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR, Western blotting and other assays.
