Car Repairman/Welder
Regina West Service Centre

Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. The fleet has grown to include more than 30,500 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 27 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers, and food markets.

With a vision to be the North American leader in delivering value-creating railcar repair solutions, it is our team of innovative and talented employees that drives our success. Procor is currently seeking a Car Repairman/Welder to join our Regina, Saskatchewan location.

The normal hours of work are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with schedules subject to change based on business needs.

The starting hourly rate for this role is $32.33.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Cut, fit, and repair railcars, their components, and other items as necessary to facilitate railcar repair.
  2. Assist team members to facilitate railcar repair and productivity.
  3. Perform all necessary AAR repairs on railcars, including cutting, straightening, cleaning, blasting, and car repair.
  4. Perform and document quality control checks as required by company standards.
  5. Perform basic P.M. checks on used equipment.
  6. Comply with company and regulatory safety and environmental standards.
  7. Meet production schedules.
  8. Use all required safety equipment according to EHS instructions, including respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, steel-toed boots, and fall protection.
  9. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. At least 1 month experience with MIG Welding (FCAW).
  2. Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools.
  3. Ability to read and understand work orders and MSDS.
  4. Ability to pass an in-house weld test.
  5. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and in confined spaces or at heights up to 15 feet.
  6. Must pass company physical including pulmonary function, chest, and back X-rays.
  7. Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in Canada.
  8. Willingness to undergo pre-employment screening, reference checks, and background verification.

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, prior experience with railcar construction or steel work, pre-employment welding course, and blueprint reading skills.

Work Environment:

The work environment includes office settings, shop or yard areas with moving mechanical parts, with moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Additional Skills and Training:

Welding skills and WHMIS training are assets. Effective communication, organizational skills, strong initiative, and the ability to work under pressure are desirable qualities.
