Job summary

Algoma Central Corporation seeks an experienced Captain for the Deck Department on a dry bulk vessel. This full-time, non-unionized management role steers safety, vessel operations and compliance with ISM Code and ISO standards.

The Captain represents the Company aboard, protecting crew, environment, and the owner's commercial interests while overseeing safety, pollution prevention and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Master Mariner or Master, Near Coastal with Transport Canada Canadian credentials.
• GOC – GMDSS license and STCW safety certifications required.
• 2+ years latest experience on dry bulk vessels.
• Ability to lead a crew and contractors, with English working proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the vessel's management representative and safeguard corporate interests.
• Ensure safety of crew, environment, and cargo operations, and pollution prevention.
• Enforce compliance with Canada Shipping Act, ISM Code, ISO standards and procedures.
• Make safety-based decisions as the vessel captain; non-unionized leadership.
