City Experiences is seeking a Captain for our City Cruises operation in Toronto.

Please note, this is a seasonal contract position.

City Cruises Canada welcomes applicants currently holding foreign licenses recognized by the Transport Canada Reciprocal Arrangement Program. City Cruises Canada will actively work to endorse eligible mariners, with a 90-day employment commitment for all successful endorsements.

About The Opportunity

The Captain operates Transport Canada inspected passenger vessels, ensuring safety, security, enjoyment, and environmental respect. Responsibilities include guest greeting, safety protocol adherence, vessel operation, crew supervision, safety inspections, guest satisfaction, and compliance with regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
  • Assign tasks, provide direction, and stand bridge watch for navigation.
  • Maintain navigation charts and equipment.
  • Ensure readiness of lifesaving and firefighting equipment.
  • Provide hospitality to guests and coworkers.
  • Oversee pre-cruise preparations and crew supervision.
  • Conduct safety inspections and drills.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Participate in vessel maintenance and safety programs.
  • Handle guest issues and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Complete shift records and safety documentation.
  • Maintain vessel cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist with vessel operations and mechanical issues.
  • Willingness to work extended shifts and on holidays.
  • Maintain appearance standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Master 150 Gross Tonnage certificate.
  • Consideration for Master Limited over 60 Gross Tonnage with experience.
  • Current Marine Basic First Aid and Transport Canada medical certification.
  • Minimum two years of marine experience.
  • Restricted Operator Certificate ROC-MC.
  • Simulated Electronic Navigation (Limited).
  • Additional skills like ship-handling, customer service, or foreign language are a plus.
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and work in all weather conditions.
  • Availability for work on major holidays.
