Job summary

The Municipality of Clarington is seeking a Manager, Capital Projects to lead planning, design, and delivery of major capital infrastructure. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, you will guide Project Managers, drive PM best practices, and communicate status to senior leadership and Council.

Required are a Civil Engineering or related degree with at least seven years in project management; a P.Eng. is a strong asset. This hybrid role offers a 35-hour work week and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• Minimum seven years in project management for capital projects.
• P.Eng. designation is an asset.
• Experience with CCDC contracts and project delivery methods.
• Strong reports and presentation skills to senior leadership and Council.
• Ability to manage diverse portfolios and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in planning, procurement, design, construction, and delivery of major capital projects.
• Oversee Project Managers and report to senior leadership and Council.
• Champion project management best practices and governance.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and recommendations on status, risk, and budget.
• Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, developers, and regulators.
• Monitor schedules, budgets, risks, and overall performance; escalate when needed.
• Mentor staff and ensure compliance with applicable standards and by-laws.
