This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta and will require travel to hotels and spas in Alaska, Alberta, and British Columbia.

Job Description

As the Capital Projects Manager, you play a vital role in driving operational and financial excellence. Your responsibilities encompass strategic CAPEX planning and meticulous execution of capital projects. Your role ensures that each project aligns with corporate strategies and complies with operational policies while managing budgets, timelines, and quality standards. You will maintain effective communication with stakeholders and manage contracts and external partnerships. The ideal candidate takes initiative, demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, and is able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Focuses

1. Strategic Planning: Build the CAPEX budget and strategic plan relating to equipment, infrastructure, and facilities, ensuring compliance with corporate, production, and operating policies. With the long-term goal of building out a 5-year CAPEX strategy.
2. CAPEX Portfolio Management: Work in lockstep with key division stakeholders to develop, scope, cost, and plan all CAPEX projects, ensuring they align with standard project procedures and corporate policies.
3. Project Execution and Oversight: Oversee the entire lifecycle of capital projects from conceptual design to handover, ensuring strict adherence to budget and schedule constraints.
4. Communication and Coordination: Maintain and manage communication with all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, schedule, and cost.
5. Budget and Schedule Management: Define and manage project budgets, prepare monthly progress reports, and implement strict project and financial controls.
6. Contract and External Partner Management: Develop appropriate contract strategies and manage external partners, including contractors and suppliers.

Experience/Passions/Education

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, preferably in the hospitality sector.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale capital projects and preventative maintenance.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of current trends in hospitality capital projects and sustainability.

Working Conditions

This position may require long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturns in business demands or deadlines. This detail-oriented and analytical position is set in a fast-paced environment with high levels of interaction with employees and other stakeholders.
