Job summary

The City of Mississauga seeks a Supervisor, Capital Acquisition to lead real property acquisitions for rapid transit and municipal capital projects. You will supervise staff, develop strategies, and ensure compliance with legislation and policies while guiding client departments.

Responsibilities include negotiations, budgeting support, reporting to Council, and fostering relationships with internal and external partners to deliver practical property solutions.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education from a recognized university or college.
• Completion of one or more real estate designations from Appraisal Institute of Canada, International Right of Way Association or Real Estate Institute of Canada is preferred or other relevant designation.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience leading large-scale real estate projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the acquisition of real property and property interests for rapid transit and municipal projects.
• Provide strategic advice on acquisition strategies, valuations, negotiations and expropriation matters.
• Develop and maintain acquisition standards aligning with laws, policies and project requirements.
• Manage day-to-day operations of acquisition, negotiations and appraisal functions.
• Recruit, mentor, train and supervise staff, including performance management.
• Support acquisition budgets, forecasts and property strategies for capital planning.
• Prepare council and executive reports on appraisals and negotiations.
