Job summary

Bayer CropScience Limited in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is seeking a Lab Research Assistant to support high-throughput canola doubled haploid production. You will operate the DH lab to help achieve short- and long-term goals while complying with safety and quality standards.

The role requires a degree in agricultural/biological science, strong Microsoft Office skills, aseptic technique, and willingness to work across multiple Winnipeg sites.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in agricultural/biological science or related field.
• Strong computer software literacy, with experience using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and central databases.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of double haploid production.
• Highly skilled with aseptic technique.
• Willingness to work with Colchicine.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary/multicultural research team.
• Highly motivated, results oriented, with the ability to work with people individually or in a team to deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Execute laboratory operations to meet quality and timeline targets.
• Assist in producing canola doubled haploids using sterile technique.
• Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Actively participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Follow QMS and HSE procedures and promote compliance within the DH laboratory operations.
• Maintain tidiness and orderliness in the workplace.
• Assist in task-related document creation and process reviews.
• Supervise and train temporary employees as required.
• Foster an inclusive environment of professionalism and safe working practices.
