Summary:

Canderel is looking for a Jr. Construction Project Manager to carry out fit-up, capital, and development projects for buildings and projects in the Montreal and Quebec City area. In collaboration with various stakeholders, you will plan, organize, direct, and control architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction projects. This position offers an opportunity to utilize your organizational and project planning skills.

Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, organize, direct, and manage all facets of a project to ensure cost, schedule, and scope objectives are achieved.
  2. Determine resources required to manage all aspects of the project.
  3. Liaise with internal stakeholders such as the investments group, marketing, leasing, and external stakeholders like partners, consultants, construction managers, trades, and municipal staff.
  4. Coordinate with third-party construction managers, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and other consultants.
  5. Produce regular reports and updates for project stakeholders.
  6. Prepare RFPs for procurement of consultants and construction managers.
  7. Review tender packages and contract documents as necessary.
  8. Hold regular construction progress meetings, track progress, and monitor productivity and contractor performance.
  9. Handle accounting functions, including issuing purchase orders, maintaining cost files, managing change orders, billing, and reconciliation.
  10. Lead the condominium registration process, liaising with lawyers, surveyors, planners, and municipal authorities.
  11. Ensure all legal paperwork, including permits, are secured in compliance with authorities.
  12. Maintain high-quality standards in Canderel developments.
  13. Manage design, construction, and budget risks, including creating risk mitigation strategies.
  14. Ensure project profitability, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.
  15. Oversee project closeout activities, including documentation, deficiencies, and warranty work.
  16. Manage technical audit obligations and warranty issues.
Qualifications & Competencies:
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in construction project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, engineering, architecture, planning, construction management, or equivalent.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or engineering designation is a plus.
  • Experience in commercial real estate construction project management.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, MS Project, AutoCAD (asset), and other project management software.
  • Knowledge of construction laws and regulations in the area.
  • Valid ASP construction card.
  • LEED knowledge (asset).
  • Project management certification (asset).
